Crater Crest 4/5/09

For a follow up to the guys big day on Mt. Walt we chose to ski Crater Crest, the peak literally in the back yard of the sweet cabin we were lucky enough to stay in at Twin Lakes. We summited the peak and then skied a 4000 vertical foot gully right back to the cabin. We encountered conditions ranging from nice soft corn to chalky winter hardpack so it was nice to have my Stubai Ultralight Pro Crampons and SMC Capra Ice axe with me on the way up. I also used the Cloudveil Inertia Peak Pants on this trip and I think they are a perfect light spring skiing softshell pant for the Sierra. The weather was beautiful and the skiing was great, I hope to come back and explore this area more again soon.
