Product Review: Marmot Hard Charger Jacket, Men’s Ski & SnowboardMarch 5th, 2013 By Trey Duch
When you think of quality men’s jackets there are probably a few brands that spring to mind. If Marmot isn’t in your top picks then you probably haven’t owned one of their jackets. Today we’re looking at the men’s Marmot Hard Charger Jacket available in Tawny Port or Black.
The first thing you’ll notice when looking at the Hard Charger is the quality craftsmanship. You may even be hesitant to take it out into the world for fear of scuffing or tearing the pristine outer shell. Don’t sweat it, this jacket was made to take any abuse you can throw at it! Ski edges, random branches while cruising through the glades, mud and of course water won’t even phase the MemBrain material. It’s two-layer fabric and seam taped construction is going to perform season after season.
Even though this is a waterproof shell jacket, Marmot wanted to make sure you’re comfortable at all times. The MemBrain material is breathable and the jacket features crucial PitZips for when you need to cool off fast. The water resistant zippers and the zip-off storm hood will make sure that no water sneaks it’s way in. For the powder hounds there’s a built-in powder skirt, mesh goggle pocket, adjustable Velcro cuffs and an elastic draw cord hem.
All of these features add up to a great outer shell jacket weighing in at only 1 lb, 7 oz. One thing to keep in mind for those of us who wear helmets is that, like most hooded jackets, the hood isn’t really made to fit over the helmet. You may not have a lot of freedom of movement if you try. Aside from that non-issue this jacket is ready to go anywhere you do.
