The King of the Lake PDGA National Tour Elite Series comes to Lake Tahoe this weekend, pitting top disc golfers from around the country against four disc golf courses from Tahoe Vista to Markleeville.
“We have phenomenal caliber players this year – 109 from around the country including seven top women,” said Tournament Organizer Russ Wey. “People love it, of course there is the beauty and there are the great courses we have up here.”
Bruce Knisley, an Innova ambassador and player, said he loves playing at Lake Tahoe.
“With less air up at altitude there is less drag on the disc, so they tend not to turn over as much,” said Knisley, who comes from Sacramento.
This is the 9th year for King of the Lake, Wey said, and it’s grown by leaps and bounds each year.
“This is a stepping stone to the World Championships in Santa Cruz,” Wey said.
